Assalam Aliekum and Juma'ah Mubarak, Well I came across this; "The claim that Abu Hanifah was taught by Ja'far Al-Sadiq is a lie that is known to anyone who read something about the life of Abu Hanifah. What is known and famous is that Abu Hanifah was taught by some of the grandest scholars at his time, most notably Isma'il bin Hammad Abu Sulayman Al-Kufi who was one of the most distinguished teachers of Abu Hanifah. In addition, Abu Hanifah was taught by Ibraheem bin Muhammad Al-Muntashir, Ibraheem bin Zayd Al-Nakh'ei, Ayyub Al-Sikhtiyani, Al-Harith Al-Hamadani, Rabee'a Al-Madani, Salim bin Abdullah bin 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased at him, Sa'eed bin Masrooq the son of Sufyan Al-Thawry, Sulayman Al-Hilaly, A'asim bin Kaleeb and many others". .. And "Ibn Tamiyah wrote that Abu Hanifa was not a student of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq but a contemporary, hence not a student." Also Jafar Al Sadiq was the founder of the Jafari Madhab, which contradicts some of the Sunni beliefs. So it still doesn't make sense to read Imam Abu Hanifa {Rahimahu Allah}, would have been a student of such a Scholar. And from what I shown above, he may well not have been. Let me know what you find InShAllah.

![]() ![]() Well the other being apparentely Imam Malik {Rahimahu Allah}. Exactly!! Logically I can't see any sense in this. As I said, those Imams {Rahimahum Allah} taught pretty much the "opposite". Indeed! They are the Athna' 3ashar (Twelvers). It's also said they [Imam Abu Hanifa/Imam Malik] "narrated" Hadith from Ja'far Al Sadiq. Let me know what your Sheikh says. My father is a Maliki, and studied the biography of the Imam deeply. So I will see what he says about this when I visit him InShAllah. Since the person who added the info on Wikipedia is most likely Shia, don't you think it can be a lie? That's what I'm thinking.

![]() ![]() I was reading briefly about Ja'far Al Sadiq. I came across this: "... He was also the teacher of the famous chemist, Jabir ibn Hayyan (Geber), and of Abu Hanifa, the founder of the Sunni Madh'hab." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jafar_Sadiq I don't believe that. Was he really the teacher of Abu Hanifa {Rahimahu Allah}? I haven't yet red the biography and life of Imam Abu Hanifa {Rahimahu Allah}, so I'm not sure who were his teachers. But Ja'far Al Sadiq being his teacher just doesn't make sense to me at all, especially as he was the founder of the Ja'fari school. While Imam Abu Hanifa was the founder of the opposite, a Sunni School. So this information of wikipedia is false, right? ![]() |

So what's up with the Imam Jafar Al Sadiq issue? Got an answer to my last post yet? :)
