Today is the day of Muharram 1, the first day of the lunar year, the year of the Muslims, 1429. 1429 years ago that our beloved prophet Muhammad (saws) traveling from Mekka to Medina, since that time began the year Hijri.
After the Conquest of Mekka, the establishment of the Islamic nation on the Arabian Peninsula, the Caliphate of Omar Bin Al Khattab, believed to be having a calendari like the other two religions and also have a reference which would commence count.
The Sahabas suggested many events to take as a reference to the Islamic calendar, some proposed to take home as the birth of the Prophet (saws), others, his death, others conquest of the Mekka and the date of emigration. At the end consensus was reached as having significant event in the nation of Islam Emigration of the Prophet (saws) and the Sahabas to Medina.
It is from this event when Muslims began to count and to have a timetable of their own. It took this option, because it was one of the most important events of Islam, Muslims suffered oppression, arrest and murder. They had no other choice but to emigrate, leaving their homes, their crops, their property, their families on behalf of Islam, taking himself anything except Islam and Iman holding, since everything they had had left behind.
Think of what we have done this year, profits have benefited from it, which we have committed errors, how to deal with them ... Think of getting this year that begins a year much better for us. In achieving that Allah this year, is most happy of our actions and never abandon it, always trying to get your mercy.
Do not forget that in ten days, comes Ashura, the day 10 it is advisable to fast on it and one day before or after others. That Allah Borre our wrongdoings of the past. Ameen
