I posted a blog- which now leads me to wonder- Does born muslim have an issue with stating the Shahada in Public

As Salaamu Alaikum

Ok simple question... and I don't want anyone bashing or coming off rude...

But I am wondering - Do some born borm muslim have an issued in saying the Shahada in Public? as would a Non-muslim reverting?

Do you feel you have an "Up" on a revert because you was brought up as a muslim?

Do some feel that  being born into a faith is enough? Like some are muslim but not practising... much like a christians whose doesn't go to church...

If the Companion said the Shahada more then once in their life time... why do born muslims today have an Issue about it?

Just wondering...

hmmmmmmmmm very very deep... no need no point... I suggest  read my lastest post on the Shahadah... and the Essense of it... After reading that article it made me rethink about the first Pillar of Islam

Sister I think your completely missing what has been said. that is the answer, Born muslims dont want to say the shahada formally or in public b/c after you are muslim there is no NEED, no point, it isnt even in the sunnah for someone who is ALREADY muslim to once in a while decide to take shahada again in front of ppl or doing it formally.
rabz (29 Jul 2008, 1:51 am):

you're right a parrot can say the shahadah - but they are already part of creation that submit to Allah (SWT) .  And I'm not asking about a parrot.. but born muslims... There's more to Shahadah then just saying it but believing in it...

Still no answer to the question...

Allahu Alim... Allah knows best

And he knows whats in the hearts of his servants

And just one more point once a person is muslim and attained of age (puberty) Allah then wants him or her to practice thier faith fully n Allah wants to see them punctual on deen, Just as when a revert takes shahdah after that Allah wants them to practice thier deen as opposed to going to the masjid every 3 months and reconfirming Shahadah. The practicing of the deen of Islam : obeying the commnands of Allah and following the sunnah comfirms our faith to Allah. Even a parrot can say the shhaadah in front of people, that dont prove a thing.

ma salams

your question sounds a bit christiany to me where pppl eat bread  n stuff in church to show or renew thier faith to everyone. Not sure wht its called..communion?
Maj (29 Jul 2008, 1:25 am):
No ones required to say it in public thats why. Why introduce something thats not part of Islam? If a muslim forgot the words of shahadah then he can learn it again inshallah.
rabz (29 Jul 2008, 1:19 am):

I'm not bashing anyone... I just want to know why is it an issue for some born muslims to say it formally or in the public....

But anywho I guess I'm not going to get an straight answer to the question I've posted... That's all I want... but no one seem to want to touch it...

I'm just curious

Maj (29 Jul 2008, 1:06 am):
salams ok i know your not  bashing muslims but its not part of Islam to renew your faith in public like some other religions might have. There is nothing in the Quran or sunnah as far as im aware that a muslim has to renew his shahdah.

Yes Allah wants us to constantly renew our faith all hours of the day. And Allah wants us to build up our faith and for us to remind each other of our religion (naseehah) and to help each other in deen. Especially when we see muslims not attending the masjids then we should worry about them and with wisdom encourage them towards deen and help them just as we would any person sick of a physical illness we would take them to the doctor, in the same wy we need to formulate healings for our muslims weak in deen. The best way is dawah to remind.

Like i say as muslims we stick to the quran n sunnah.

I really dont get the purpose of saying it formally or in public, even for reverts after they have already taken shahada. Like if you want to reaffirm your faith to urself and its just a thing btwn u and Allah(swt) say the shahada.
rabz (28 Jul 2008, 7:23 pm):

Biftu- I am saying why do some born muslim don't care to reconfirm their faith within the community when they come of a certain age? Why? Shahada starts in the heart...and then share with the community... Reverts can do it with no problem...

Sajidmohammed you're right the first thing a I was taught was the shahada...do i have an issue saying it formally.. NO... to the public no...

But I don't get why some Born muslims do...

and still there's no answer... Why do some born muslims have an issue with saying the shahada in public... or in a Formal manner...

Biftu (28 Jul 2008, 7:08 pm):
I dont really understand. Do u mean we need witnesses and everything, making it formal. Im sure muslims born or other wise say shahada to themselves every once in a while. Just like sometimes your moved to say subhanallah, or Alhamdulillah. I dont understand what you mean by saying the shahada more than  once.

Reverts do it b/c they are for the first time becoming muslim...then after that its established that you believe.
