As much as i dislike Oprah's approach to things.... I think this article makes a good point. Thanks for posting it!

as you can see here, the women are causing a fitnah through negative dawah. Maybe Oprah is just a dummy falling for the act. I see this a lot with women who have a deficiency in Iman. They make Islam look bad so that everyone will feel sorry for them, and support them when they do things that are contradictory to Islam. Agstagfullilah.

I do not watch her shows. Only once I watched when she invited several muslimiahs as her guests. The sisters were getting interruppted several times by Oprah and not allowing them to explain some of the topics. One of the topics they brought up was about the hajibs. Oprah flat out said " Oh those women WERE FORCED AND OBLIGATED TO WEAR the hajibs and the MEN tell them WHAT TO DO AND WHAT TO WEAR!"
I was waiting for one of the muslimiahs to back her down but none did. It was sad because every time one of them tried to speak up, Oprah spoke.
After that show, I stopped watching her  because not of her arrogrant behaviour. It is the information she gathers.
Got the smarts but no brain to be located anywhere in the cranium.
Sorry, sisters.
She does a lot of projects and charities, for me, she does it for herself to make a name. ITs a major turn off .

With the case of Saudi men, there are some men that do illtreat their wives but may not know the sunnahs around women.
Some are just with the namesake, and not really fully understand the concept of Islam around Women. There are some that do treat their women like a queen.

I think it s more into the culture than it would be with Islam.
Even men in the western world treats their own women horribly as well.

I see how the Media can be a very powerful tool to instill false hopes and how peoples persprectives can be changed....Saudi women seem to have hopelessly fallen for the western lifestyle and its allures( not that I am saying that saudi women do not have issues that need to be addressed) Its alarming to note that muslims are taking non-muslims as their role models. This very much indicates how ignorant muslims are becoming with respect to the sources of Islam, namely the Qur'an and Sunnah and how we are ignorant of Islamic History. Allah has sent down His revelation as Guidance for us and He has sent the Best Man( Muhammed SAW) to explain to us His revelation. Muhammed SAW has lead us by example...Therefore its really heartbreaking to see that muslims are turning to others for Guidance. The Ground reality is always different. Saudi men can be harsh and ill treat their wives...but to make it clear these men are namesake muslims with little or no knowledge of Islam. The Arabs who practise Islam are most generous and kind when it comes to their women and chilodren. Sometimes I see stray incidents being blown out of proportion just so that the confidence and pride of muslims can be dealth a severe blow. this seems to be one of those instances. May Allah Guide us all to his true path and may He make our leaders implement Islamic rulings ameen

MAY ALLAH GUIDE THE MUSLIMS RULERS AND HAVE THEM TO RULE THEIR COUNTRY AND IT'S PEOPLE THE WAY THE QURAN AND SUNNAH PRESCRIBE. AMIIN

They shouldn't look to the kuffar as examples, but in all fairness, the men in Saudi don't exactly treat the women according to the Sunnah. The whole country needs to rid itself of the kuffar influence (tv and music) and return to practicing the true Sunnah.

i like oprah.. in some case she have smart to solving the problem. but in other hand we're as muslim have to realize something about her. and not all the issues have to look at her as the inpired one. i think some women in muslim country have to really understand that if they read about history of the Prophet life also with His wifes, they will know that complain will less from them and even they complain they will have the right to get best thing in front of the family and comunity.

her role model is the kafir lady!!! subhanllah may allah talla guide her and our other sisters who are in the similar satuation!
