Wa Laikum As Salaam, I would like it if you sent me the rest of that post because I don't quite see how it says that voting is haram.

Thing is we DO live in a non muslim society and wheter you believe it or not we do follow their laws.  Granted if it goes against Islam we don't but all of us follow the rules and regulations that this gov't has set for us.  And all of us enjoy the benefits and experience the downfalls of the society that we currently live in.  Maybe I just haven't read enough but I've never seen anything from Allah SWT that says that voting is haram in a non muslim society......or that it's shirk.  I'm not planning on following either one of these men to the ends of the earth because they're human just like you and I.  I'm voting for the next president......not my next Lord.

R u ppl for real i know as Muslim Ur not thinkin bout votin wow thats deep Tell me where in Quran r the Sunnah it says that ok How can u Vote for someone Who doesn't fear Allah(swt) .I never understood the Hadith where the Prophet(saw) says that the Dajjal(antichrist) will have muslim followers now i see how thats possbile.Fear ur Lord

the true Muslim only follows the law of Allah (swt) whether it is inside or outside of the mosque; since by doing otherwise would constitute to shirk. Shirk is associating partners with Allah (swt) in His Names, Attributes, Functions or Actions. This could be by way of other gods, demi-gods, people, objects or laws. “Allah (swt) does not forgive Shirk (making partners with Allah (swt)) but He (swt) forgives what is less than that to whomever His (swt) wills.” [ 4:40] A demi-god does not necessarily have to be a statue or idol, in fact it could be anyone or anything that is worshipped, followed, obeyed or submitted to instead of Allah (swt). It’s easy to fall into shirk should we allow it. For example:, Pop stars, Celebrities, sports personalities, Kings, Man-made laws, rulings, judgement, Capitalism, Communism, Socialism,

We Should All Know r Roll when it comes to the Deen

Why would any Muslim vote for those who legislate by other then what Allah has revealed and make the haram, halal?

I'm sorry Niqabimommy but I can't understand why people just don't vote simply because of politians being the way they are.  Everyone knows that politians are all liars.  but the fact of the matter is, voting is an important rite and people should really care a little bit more.  Yea they're nonmuslims but they're trying to run a country that you live in and that's the part you hve to think about.  Like Biftu said, you have to vote for the best of the worst
And I know a few sisters who wear niqab and vote so I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be turned away for that
Biftu (08 Oct 2008, 3:08 am):
Moho...truth is you are right and Niqabimommy is right. But when voting for obama we are voting for the best of the worst. If you dont vote and the other guy wins...that could be REALLY bad for the muslims in america and all over the world. At least obama wont make things any worse...at least.
