Please enlighten me on Shi'ism.

Assalamo 3alaikom

I keep hearing this and that about Shi'as and all this talk has made me curious to research more on them. I already know what Sunnis (( especially Salafis)) think of them so I'd like to know what Shi'a themselves have to say.

I made a blog about a year ago which kinda scratched the surface and I had some very basic but good introductory responses from Kidman (( thanks a bunch)).

Am I interested in 'converting' to Shi'ism? No. I'm just interested in learning more about them, from them. Especially because I only hear one point of view and it kinda contradicts the things that some Shi'a have told me about their faith.

So if any of you know of good websites, scholars, books, etc that I can look into, I'd appreciate it.

Jazakallah Khair. :3

Assalamu 3alaikum hope yall find yourself in the best of health and highest of imaan.. up to you ... study from the shi3as sources or ask a true shi3a... but when you study from their sources study the accurate sources *hint* i think it facilitate your quest about shiism if you asked an adherent of the shi3a faith to help you out in which are the trusted sources. -salaam

@ moona.... Salam moona.... well being a shia i would say that Hazrat Aisha had a war wid hazrat ali callend war of Jamal and that took place beacuase of misunderstanding as well when some people told Aisha that hazrat ali waz the one who killed Hazrat Usman so that war took place because of one Big Misunderstanding as well in which thousands of muslim from both sides lost their lives...as far abt the Matrying of Hazrat Ali i have never seen any shia saying "hazrat aisha killed her" a guy named "Abdul Rehman ibn Muljim" killed Hazrat ali when he waz in masjid praying and i have never heard this from any shia scholar in any islamic class that it waz Hazrat Aisha who killed Hazrat Ali ....... peaceeee Hassan

Assalam o Alaikum everyone i m shia muslim but i would like say we all are muslimz and sects really dun mean at all to me...but as u asked shia people to enlighting u so here i m ...first ov all i really really dont know wat made Mr Big Poppa think that shias are not muslimz when we beleive on one Almighty Allah And Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) as his final prophet we Consider Quran As Allahs Holy Book and Fast In the month Of Ramadan and other months as well which are sunnat... We Perform Hajj and pray 5 times like u sunniz do I really dont think there is much Difference Between shia and sunni Muslimz but some people are really victim of terrible misunderstanding and brainwashing not all i have many sunni friends Aliahmedmrb (active user of Muxlim) iz one ov them who say that there is not much difference between shia and sunnis exept some minor differences but like Mr BIGPOPPA said Shiaz are not even muslimz gimme a break man i really didnt get wat the guy meant and wat made him think liek that ok now coming to misunderstanding that i have heard many times..... some sunniz and wahabiz i will repeat not all but some they beleive that we shiaz Consider Hazrat Ali as allahz prophet not Hazrat Mohammad (saw) NAOZUBBILLAH!!! i wud like to clear this to each and everyone ov u here that its nothing like that We Shiaz dont beleive on anything like that and if someone does than he is not shia hez not even muslimz The reason why Qadianiz aka Ahmadiz aka Miraziz are not considered as muslimz is because they dont consider Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) as last prophet of Allah..... so they are proved as non muslimz by Many senior Muslimz scholars but i can bet no senior muslim scholar have proved shiaz as non muslimz now coming over to another issues ... like i said many people are victim ov misunderstanding so they misunderstand in judging shias NO doubt there are people who consider Hazrat Ali (a.s) as GOD (NAOZUBBILLAH) these people are called as Nusairiz (m not sure abt spelling) and there are some who consider Hazrat Ali as Prophet but they are not Shiaz they are not even muslims... so plz guyz stop judging urself widout getting ur facts rite that U ARE WRONG AND WE ARE RITE OR UR NOT MUSLIMZ WE ARE MUSLIMZ ETC.... meggie bro i will answer each and every question of ur regarding shiasm but i dun think this is rite place cuz maybe by my debate sunni brothers will get offended and i dont want that i dont want muslimz to fight among themselves so if u got any question u can come to me and ask separtly i have no problem tellin abt shiasm here but if u gurantee me that my sunni brothers wont get offended..peace ALLAH O AKBAR! Hassan...

And even the shia have disagreements among themselves on certain subject. For example ( plez don't be offended because this is the only example I know) there is a debate within the shia group of who killed Ali and his family. Some shia claim it was Aisha and other shia claim that it wasn't Aisha. One story goes: Aisha was jealouse of Ali and declared war against him after the Prophet died.<--This story some ppl use to say that this proves she killed Ali's family because she was jealouse and made war against him. Another story goes: Before the Prophet died he told Aisha not to make war against Ali and if she did anything wrong she would hear dogs barking as a reminder that she was doing something that he told her not to do. So when Aisha declared war against Ali she heard the dogs barking and she realized she was doing something wrong.<-- Other shia use this story to prove her innocence. And once again I don't know how reliable this info. is I'm only posting what I was told by other relatives.

And some of them pray different than the sunni but not all of them. Like for example some of them will include this phrase in there prayer: "I testify that Ali is the vicegerent of Allah."

Some of my relatives who r shia said say that all of the caliphs before Ali whenever they did not know a answer to a question they relied on him for the answer. They also said that in the scholar schools they teach Ali's hadiths. Once again I'm only posting what my relative told me and I have no idea were they got this information or how reliable it is.

I bought a book on this subject a couple of days a go. I haven't read it yet and I'm not sure how reliable it is. This was the only book I could find on this subject. "The Heirs of Muhammad" by Barnaby Rogerson

I'm not really sure what the difference is but in my experiences I've have found the shia to be a little more friendly and excepting of converts rather than the sunnis. And please don't mistake any of my comments for talking bad about a specific group of ppl because i'm not I'm just saying that is the experience that I have had. My shia friend would consider me sunni but I would consider myself just "muslim" because I don't really understand the differences. I think sunni & shia r basically the same thing. However I noticed that some of my shia relative happen to be more involved into mystical charms like giving a newborn baby a blue stone to protect them from the evil eye. But my husband is shia and he doen't believe in that kinda stuff so i guess it depends on how there parents brought them up.... I'm not sure. But I think there r different kinds of shia ppl. There r ones who basically believe the same thing as sunni and then there r the ones that r more mystical. And plez don't be offended about what I say because I'm only repeating what I see my relatives doing. This statement does not necessarily represent shia as a whole. But it would be nice to have a shia who knows a lot on this topic to join in. My husband doesn't seem to b 2 knowlegable on this subject. And BIGPOPPA I thought it was not allowed in islam to call another person a non-muslim? This is not for you to decide this is for Allah to decide. Are you Allah? I don't think so. So plez stop insulting ppl.
