On the surface one might conclude that the tie is neither Islamic nor unislamic but remember, prophet Muhammad said to us 'to be different from the kufar.'Wearing the time is halal as long as it is not silk and as long as it does not IMITATE the dress of the disbeliever! What do you think? There, are of course, exceptions, as there are exceptions to many things. For example if you only have haggard clothin you wear what you have until you can get others. If you are extremely hungry and do not have proper food and cannot get proper food, you eat what you have, just enough to carry you over, until you can get proper food. Normally a sister would not go into her husband pocket and take money, but if her husband is a miser and have money and it is needed she can take 'what she need.' There are usually exceptions, and Allahu 'aleem. I do not think it should be a common and standard thing 'under normal circumstances,' where one should wear the tie and if one is in a circumstance where he is required to wear a tie he would be better off to try and balance the tie with other clothing he is wearing, if he can do so, at the same time which identifies him as Muslim, wa Allahu 'aleem.

salaamu alaikum, I agree with the other posts as far as most ties are silk, but if u find a cotton tie then wear it, but make sure it's a formal event, or u'll be considered not fashionable because these days that is not the fashion, unless u belong to the group caleed the Nation of Islam, which is mainly American people in that group. Also, as far as weraing Islamic clothes, that's another blog in and of itself, I think I'll post that, stay tuned

It is better far a brother not to wear a tie most of them are made out of silk, and our Prophet(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) did not wear a tie or a suite.  Why don't the brother wear Islamic clothes?

the reason most muslims dont wear ties  is because   they  generaly have silk in them and  silk is  for  women not men  just like gold

Salams Bro I dont think wearinga tie is Islamic whether its a sin or not I don't know.If I was given the choce id opt out of it..I think its silly when muslims attend wedding in ties etc..why not wear nice Islamic clothes or just smart casual?Allah knows best.
