Asalaamu alaikum bro,
lol, I don't know if u remember me, how r u n hows family? inshAllah kulu bekhair!

Is the starvation of a Muslim inmate in South Dakota NOT as important to Muslim advocacy groups as say fund raising in a highly populated state or lobbying in DC? I ask because we have a Brother here in our state who has desperately tried to get the major "advocacy" Muslim groups to get involved in a horrible case of prisoner abuse/neglect in our state's main prison against the ENTIRE Muslim inmate population, & NONE have been willing to do anything!
I realize most of these organizations are really no different from all the other non-profit urban groups that ignore the plight of rural, but let me clarify something.... most of THESE MEN were NOT from our state!
They were IMPORTED by states like yours, to serve out their sentences in our "plush" SD prison system. So while our so-called national "advocacy" organizations guys ignore the "rural" hicks of South Dakota, the federal & state prison system has taken advantage of the situation.
Something has to be done for one of the Brothers is becoming very weak due to the lack of adequate food being provided (he won't eat the pork they are intentionally trying to feed him).
So we need help! Any Muslims who can assist in this matter should contact Brother Imann at broimannsfsd@yahoo.com He needs help in getting SOMEONE who has the means to take and fight the state over its outright & knowing mistreatment of Muslim inmates.
how are we today?

Salaam,
I want to invited you....to check out my sculptures at this coming art show in Manhattan!
Press Release: New York, July 8th 2008- "Open to Interpretation" explores the various directions that emerging artists have taken with the concept of Islamic Art. There will be two receptions, an opening on July 8th 6-9 and a gallery reception on July 10th 6-9.
The works are as traditional as calligraphy, as interpretive as a miniature on a story from the Torah, or as abstract as the concept of Nur (light). The artists in the exhibit include Mona Kamal, Marium Saifee, Shifaz Usman, Huma Gul, Eric Wenger, Fareen Butt, Asma Shikoh, Mumtaz Husein, Siona Benjamin, Mashkoor Raza, and Mo Shah.
The show encompasses three categories: calligraphy, figurative and abstract. The "calligraphists" include Sarwar, Huma Gul, Eric Wenger, and Mumtaz Husein. These artists have taken written verses from the Koran and created pieces representing interpreted emotion, connotation, and literal meaning. The mediums range from mosaic to steel sculpture and capture the verses in both essence and form. The figurative artists include Siona Benjamin, Asma Shikoh, and Mo Shah. Their works depict decision and anguish upon an individual's spiritual journey. Finally, the abstract artists include Fareen Butt and Mashkoor Raza, whose works have a more metaphysical leaning.
Works will be on view from July 8-14 at A.I.R Gallery, 511 W25th Street #303 in the Chelsea district of New York City. Gallery
