Assalamu Aleikum Warahmatulahi Wabarakatu.

As i have always been completely against this whole 'describe yourself in a paragraph' thing i won't. i'll just say for now that i am quite a chilled out Muslimah, which is code for I AM LAZY.
Anyway.... i am currently pursuing a life of the mind, so i'm very interested in all things philosophical/literary. If you are too then drop me a message, initiate a discussion, i always wonder what other people's take on life/the world is.
Also i'm a veggie...
*the Ummah,
*Literature, especially poetry
*Art; not so much classical more modern
*Philosophy (notthe pretentious kind, the genuine stuff)
*Tea: Ya Rab! I love, love.....love tea. Tea is not just a drink, its a way of life. embrace it people!!!!
*Comedy

1) Fitnah:

afer that:

*Black coffee...what can i say,, ewww yuk? If u drink this stuff religiously then thats a sure sign u lost ur tastebuds dude.
*Work/Study....lazy,lazyoh i am sooo lazy.
*Narrow minded people: surely the number 1 plague of this world are ignorant people...get your head out of that ridiculous xenophobic tabloid and start reading some books folks!

I'm not really a film person. But if i'd go for one film it would have to be 'Battle of Algiers'...i highly recommend it, its absolutely brilliant! Documentaries are more my forte: Visit Palestine, Chechnya:'The Dirty War', Arna's Children, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, The Corporation, We Interrupt This Empire.
My favourite book is the Quran, followed by the Saheeh hadiths of Al Bukhari and Muslim.

Some of the stuff i'm reading now:

Prose: Fyodor Dostoyevsky: The Brothers Karamazov, Raymond Carver: Will you please, be quiet please?,Ivan Turgenev: Fathers and Sons, Douglas Adams: the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Aldous Huxley: Brave New World, Gabriel Garcia Marquez: One Hundred Years of Solitude, Mikhail Bulgakov: Master and Margerita.

Poetry: Fernando Pessoa, Benjamin Zephaniah, Ezra Pound, Theodore Roethke, William Empson, Anne Sexton, Gerrit Achterberg.
