The Original Thasing
Heritages: Caucasian White
Languages: Dutch
Job: Writer
About Me:
My name is Jan Sallim Thasing, and I was officially born in the 'fifties' in Amsterdam, but parts of me feel like more than 300 years old. I was Refurbished by Shahada about 1997.
I started to write regularly since 1986.
Some of my publications deal with science as well as fiction, varying from short stories to even some novels.
Some of the short stories, as well as articles were published, the novels were not (yet).
The Dutch language is a small one and our publishers do not want to take too much risks on newcomers.
Publishing costs generally are high and sales on average books no more than 3000 prints, except when it is one of those bestsellers, which can sell a pounding 100,000.
I do like to make furniture, paintings and drawings, the latter made in the European (French) cartoon tradition.
I am aware that between Muslims there is a lot of discussion, on how / if to make drawings / pictures.
As for now, to my understanding a two dimensional picture is not a reflection of life,
or an attempt to create it. Maybe that's why I do not make 'life alike' portraits and such things, since being a Muslim.
The roughness of the drawing is a reflection of an imperfect thought, therefore impossible to exist in reality. As an artist I only can admire Allah and His beautiful creations. Not in the farthest I ever will be able to imitate Him or His works.
About my 'wright or wrong' in this matter, I know Allah will judge me.
The same counts for my belief as a Muslim, by the way.
That does not mean you cannot comment or reflect on what you find on my piece of the internet, if you know different. Please share your thoughts!
The matter you can expect me to write about:
A- How a non-conformist European became a Muslim and tries to live like one.
B- The way Europe looks at Muslims or Islam.
C- The way an average European thinks.
D- The role of rude capitalism in shaping political 'molds'.
E- How Europeans look at the way American politics seems to ignore the rest of the world
In the blogger section you will find some more of my writing. Occasionally there will be some 'real news' from around where I live, my struggle to keep the Deen going; or just plain silly stuff. Humor is the salt of the earth, there has to be a reason that Allah put it in us...
Salaams to you all,
Jan Sallim Thasing
Hobbies:
Even when I present my self as a Writer, that does not mean that I will be here 24-7. [br]
Since being an Immigrant I have to do just plain old fashioned labour, to keep the bills payed.
Gratefull to Allah, I was provided with a Job quite soon.[br]
Questions and letters from Sisters will be answered too, but by my beloved wife. [br]
To make it easy to contact her directly, she is the lady which you see in the favourites section.[br]
Because of the original meaning of the little red heart she will stay there alone...[br]
Friends will show up in the friends section, but for some reason not every request gets processed immediately.[br]
My computer is probably not clever enough to cope with all modernicity.[br]
Donot take it personal, it is mainly a lack of computer abilities.
Movies:
Oh Boy, don't ask me titles. [br]
The nice thing about them is the lack of commercials in them.[br]
Books:
Too much to mention. But the one Book, that I have too.[br]I still have to go by translations, from which I have several.
[br]Most Koran and Hadith studies are done in English or German.[br]
Arabic I use when I am fully aware of its meaning, like the daily prayers and some Surat, after being corroberated for proper pronounciation.
Music:
Music plays a little role in my life, but I always have enjoyed classical music, Mainly Russian from around 1900.[br]
I am not as far that I completely dismiss Music as being sinful, except when the lyrics mention stuff which a Muslim should stay away from.[br]

The proof of this precious statement is what ALLAH said in the Qur^an, in Surat ash-shura ,ayah 11:
لىاعت للها لاق :?ُيرصبلا ُعيم?سلا ?وهو ٌءىش ?هلثمك ?س?يَل? ]ىروشلا ةروس[
which means: <<There is absolutely nothing like ALLAH whatsoever, and He has the attributes of Hearing and Seeing.>> This ayah absolutely clears ALLAH of resembling the creations.
And many people use another verse in the Qur^an to say that ALLAH sits on the throne when ALLAH says in surah Ta-Ha ayah 5 which is translated as-"The Merciful One Who rose above His Throne in a majesty that befits Him".
Ibn Jarir al-Tabari (d. 310A.H.) said in his Tafsir: "ALLAH made himself exalted over the heaven with the exaltation of sovereignty and power, not that of displacement and movement."
And He says in Surah al-Ikhlas which is translated as:
“And there is none like unto Him” (112: 4).
