Assalamu Aleikum wa Ramatullah. Theres not really much to say about Me really...Well, there is, but I cant think of much :) Im a revert to Islam, and Im aiming to become a better Muslim, although it is difficult for Me. My parents do not like Islam, and will not accept my interest in it. I said my shahada, but feel as though I cannot live up to it, as because my parents dislike Islam, they prevent me from practising it in any way. I cannot pray, wear hijab, or openly talk about my beliefs, but I have not got the money to move out. My parents have made it quite clear that if I practice, they may throw me out, and possibly disown me as well. They are not bad people; they are only doing the best that they can, and it is not a hatred of G-d that drives them, more a fear that Islam will steal me from them, and reduce me to a shadow of the woman that I have become. When they look at other Muslims, the only ones presented to them are those who spread sorrow and suffering. They have never had the chance to see any other kind of Muslim. Insha Allah, I will be able to change their minds, and things will become easier for me the more that I try. Please remember that when you meet someone on the street, or when you have the chance to present Islam to others, your behaviour must be what it ought to be, and your explanations about Islam should be clear and truthful. It could be my parents, or the parents of another like myself that you meet, and your behaviour will not only impact on the lives of those around them, but also affect the chances of them reverting to Islam. I write this not to be patronising or to find fault, but because I am aware that everyone is human, and that sometimes even Muslims may lose their temper, swear, or generally act in a way that they shouldn't, without stopping to think of the consequences of their actions, and it leads to other people being hurt. Btw, I would prefer not to continually add men to my friends list, but have added a few so far, as I hope to learn from all people about my chosen religion.
