You need proof

In Islam, claims carry no weight in themselves, unless they are backed by proofs. Allah, The Exalted mentioned in the Qur'an the claim of some of the wrongdoers, who said: "None will enter Paradise, unless he be a Jew or a Christian" Allah refuted them, saying - "Produce your proof if you are truthful". (al-Baqarah: 111)

We are advised and warned to stick to the aathaar (narrations) of those who have preceded (the Salaf), EVEN IF THE PEOPLE REJECT US, then the distinguished ones who followed them upon goodness, their successors and the Imaams of the Religion – those who received testimony as to their leadership, were known for their great status in the Religion and whose words are taken by the people after the Salaf, apart from those who are accused of innovation or renowned for unacceptable ascriptions.
