Muslim men, Why?

Date: 13 Jan 2008, 6:18 am / Mood: disappointed

My Muslim brothers, as salaamu alaykum.

Bismillahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem

I know we have bigger issues such as encouraging those who are not making their salaah atleast 5 times per day.

I know that some brothers grow their beards for show, or they think that they are closer to Allah because their beards are long while others shave. (Only Allah knows who these brothers are). This is not good either.

However, Muslim men need to obey Allah and his Messenger and stop shaving their beards off. We can't ignore this issue by saying "We need to talk about other things."

Every time a Muslim man looks into the mirror with a razor or shaver and commits this sin, and then comes out into the public displaying his willingness to dis-obey the Messenger of Allah, ... this is very sad. For those Muslim men who will repond to this blog with an excuse, know that Allah hears your excuses. And only Allah will decide if your excuses are good, or just a weak justification to dis-obey.

For those who say it's not obligatory, Allah hears you, and Allah will tell us all the truth in the end.

Brothers, our sisters are out in public wearing hijab because they fear Allah, let's not be the weak links and shave before we go out in public.

For those who will continue to keep shaving off their beards after reading the following hadiths and ayaats from Qur'an, Then all I can say is 'enjoy yourself.' We will all stand before Allah alone. I only intend to remind brothers as others remind me about Muslim issues. As salaamu alaykum.

Final question, can anyone sincerely say "Bismillahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem" before he starts shaving off his beard? and feel no shame in front of Allah?

As salaamu alaikum

The ayats from the Qur'an are a direct order from Allaah subhanahu wa ta'ala to obey the Messenger of Allaah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).  So our brothers are to leave the beard just as sisters are leave our eyebrows in tact.  We certainly don't see that directly stated in the Qur'an.

Here's another ayah...

And whatsoever the Messenger gives to you, take it; and whatso ever he forbids for you, abstain from it (59:7)

Tafir ibn Kathir (if the message gets truncated, then check tafsir.com)

whatever the Messenger commands you, then do it and whatever he forbids you, then avoid it. Surely, He only commands righteousness and forbids evil.' Imam Ahmad recorded that `Abdullah bin Mas`ud said, "Allah curses women who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and the women who remove the hair from their eyebrows and faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful, whereby changing Allah's creation.'' His statement reached a woman from Bani Asad called, Umm Ya`qub, who came to `Abdullah and said, "I have come to know that you have cursed such and such'' He replied, "Why should I not curse those whom Allah's Messenger has cursed and who are cursed in Allah's Book!'' Umm Ya`qub said, "I have read the whole Qur'an, but did not find in it what you say.'' He said, "Verily, if you have read the Qur'an, you have found it. Didn't you read,

(And whatsoever the Messenger gives you take it and whatsoever he forbids you, you abstain (from it).)'' She replied, "Yes, I did.'' He said, "Verily, Allah's Messenger forbade such things. '' "She said, "But I think that your wife does these things'' He said, "Go and look at her.'' She went and watched her, but could not see anything in

I dont see where the ayas from the Quran say to not shave?

As Salaamu 'Alaikum: it is real nice that this has been posted.

It really bothers me to see so many muslims shaving off their beard

At the same time i must say it bothers me even more to even more brothers. especially those who claim to be following the quran & Sunnah dressing like the kufr men. Just putting a little cap "sometimes" on ur head doesn't really distinguish you as a muslim. Yet you all want your women to dress proper and stand out like a sore thumb. Where is your pride? Where is your Iman? Where is your leading by example? Shaving the beard is wrong & you men who do it look like women or #####gots, who were the first men who ever shaved their faces. But you brothers who practise one or two sunnahs and then get on the case of others while there are so many more that you are neglecting also really bother me too. Stand up & show ur proud to b a muslim & stop being scared to dress like a real muslim man!!!
