i have the same problem as u, i live apart from my husband, i'm in morocco he's in uk! ( immigration problems) we've been married just for 5 months, but it's so hard! we love each others so much, he visit me evry month! but saying good bye is more difficult evrytime! allah test us in so many ways! and marrige is half of our deen!
allah swt says in the quran:
"BE SURE WE SHALL TEST TOU WITH SOMETIME OF FEAR AND HUNGER N SOME LOSS IN GOODS OR LIVES OR THE FRUITS OF YOURVENGL? BUT GIVEGLAD TIDINGS TO THOSE YOU PATIETLYPERSERVE. WHO SAY? WHENAFFLICTED WITH CLAMITY/TO ALLAH WE BELONG? AND TO HIM IS OUR RETURN"

assalam aliakium sister i too am married to an arab and i am american at times i find it difficult between the cultures and traditions on religion we are both the same alhumdillah but other things seem what stresses our marraige weve been married 16 years inshallah allah will make it easier for all of us

As salaamu alaykum, We too as African American muslims sometimes get ignored when we give salaams to other muslims. Here are a few ayaats.
When those come to thee who believe in Our signs, Say: "Peace be on you: Your Lord hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) mercy: verily, if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented, and amend (his conduct), lo! He is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
Qur'an 6:84
When a (courteous) greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy. God takes careful account of all things.
Qur'an 4:86
Whoever does not greet muslims or return the greeting with an equal or better greeting, they are disobeying Allah. Warn them. Show them from Qur'an, if they still don't return your salaams, then atleast you keep obeying Allah by continue-ing to give them salaams. Allah is keeping track of all these things. The day of Judgment is coming, we will all be questioned.

Thanks for replying, and for visiting my page, I hope my story will help others Insha Allah who are struggling in the same matter as I am. I read your page its very nice, I love your pictures very nice.
on General info,what you wrote is sounds very familiar, I had the same problem with my husband, he was in Egypt and I was in Canada. The Immigration refused my husband, so we stayed apart for 5 years.
Once every 15 months I would visit him in Egypt, for 1 month, so I understand your situation, it is hard, the hardest part was that my husband's family forced him to marry his cousin, so he got married, and of course, your question would be, " why,didn't I just move to egypt?", well it got more complicated, I had legal problems in canada which lasted 5 years that stopped me from moving to egypt and on top of that I was diagnosed with cancer, so I had to stay in canada for treatment, his family thought I was going to die, so they forced him to get married, he had our daughter with him, and my mother-in-law didn't want to take care of our daughter, so yeah life is complicated at time,but with Allah in our hearts, mind and soul we can overcome our obsticles in life, after 5 years of praying, my health is good for now, Alhumdulillah, the charges on me is finally settled but not to my likings, my husband divorced his wife after 4 months of marriage he never loved her, and I finally moved to egypt to be with my husband and our 2 daughters. Alhumdulillah, found a job, but my husband is thinking of moving to Qatar for a job, I tolled him, "I just got here, and you wanna leave me?" anyway, he just wanna have a better future for us and our daughters, Insha Allah, so hang in there, in time, everything will workout Insha Allah, like the Qur'an say's, " patience and perserverace", well, I wrote too much take care from your sister in Islam Salma

Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out (Surah 67 CH verse 3 and 4) (here allah lets us no how amazing is creation is, Alhamdulillah) nature is so amazing sun, moon, star, clouds, as muslims we have the mercy of seeing these things as signs of the perfection of our creator ALLAH (SWT) Subhanallah.
