I am currently 50 years old, happily married for 17 years to a wonderful man who has shared the same spiritual path as I over the years. We have 2 beautiful daughters, a granddaughter on the way,and 1 cat. We live in Indiana. My husband and I declared the Shahahdah almost 7 years ago after exploring many different belief systems and religions. My eldest daughter declared the Shahahdah a year later. I was raised in old European values by my mother who was originally from Novorossijsk, Russia. She unknowingly prepared me for Islam. She believed in being openminded and tolerant of others' differences and beliefs and always taught me to seek the truth and use my mind, to learn. I thank Allah (swt) everyday for her guidance, love, understanding and tolerance. May Allah (swt) have mercy upon her.
Above all, I love Allah, Islam, the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)and his followers (peace be upon them), and the Qu'ran. I love all of Allah's creations. I especially love cats. I love listening to peaceful soothing calming music and reading a good fantasy book. I enjoy writing prose and poetry, fine scale modeling, and sculpting. Other likes will be added later to this space, so check back soon!
NOT NECESSARILY IN THIS ORDER: Hypocrisy; Fanaticism; Stereotyping; Intolerance; Persecution; Violence; Greed; Cruelty; Hate; Revenge; Oppression; Arrogance; Exploitation; Tyrrany; Extortion; Deceit; Injustice; Hate; Chaos(this list could easily get longer)
I love music, and listen almost exclusively to Islamic music, otherwise I enjoy classical (Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.) and new age instrumental music, such as Kitaro, Ray Lynch and Mike Rowland. Yusuf Islam, Sami Yusuf and Dawud Wharnsby Ali are some of my favorites as far as Islamic Music is concerned. I also enjoy listening to recitations of the Qu'ran and Hadiths.
I have very few Islamic videos, but I have had the blessed opportunity to listen and watch Deedat on video and find listening to him fascinating. May Allah (swt) bless him and have mercy upon him. I also enjoy listening to and watching Sheik Yusuf Estes, former Christian, & Federal Prison Chaplain (he has a wonderful sense of humor and he makes Islam very easy to understand and comprehend). I do have "The Message: The Story of Islam" and found myself crying during several moments. They stayed true to the Islamic tradition of not showing the face of Muhammad (pbuh), and yet making the film enjoyable and breathtaking to watch and learn from. My youngest daughter loves Adam's World, a video series for children put out by SoundVision, and I myself have enjoyed watching these tapes with my entire family.

Personal Favorites not related to Islam: Lord of the Rings Trilogy extended DVD collection. I enjoy watching other fantasy and science fiction, Babylon 5 was my favorite Science Fiction television series/movie. I also am a Star Trek fan and my favorite Star Trek series is Enterprise, which came out after Deep Space 9 (which was my past favorite). I thoroughly enjoy watching the BBC series, Doctor Who.

When I am not reading The Qu'ran, Hadiths, and other Islamic Books, I read exclusively fantasy books. My favorites are Forgotten Realms Fantasy by TSR, mainly Elaine Cunningham, R.A. Salvatore, Ed Greenwood, and Troy Denning. A Non-TSR author, James Clemens, is also a favorite of mine, and I recently read, for the 5th time, the 5 book set by him, "Wit'ch Fire", "Wit'ch Storm", "Wit'ch War", "Wit'ch Gate" and "Wit'ch Star". Currently I finished reading the Elminster series by Ed Greenwood, am waiting to get my hands on the fourth book in the series.

Narated By Abu Sulaiman and Malik bin Huwairith : We came to the Prophet and we were (a few) young men of approximately equal age and stayed with him for twenty nights. Then he thought that we were anxious for our families, and he asked us whom we had left behind to look after our families, and we told him. He was kindhearted and merciful, so he said, "Return to your families and teach them (religious knowledge) and order them (to do good deeds) and offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers, and when the stated time for the prayer becomes due, then one of you should pronounce its call (i.e. the Adhan), and the eldest of you should

Salaam alaikum Sister Jean, Wow, I wish you lived down the street! LOL Sounds like you & your husband, and me & Mine have a lot in common. Mashallah. My husband is a sculptor & I love fantasy books (and so does he). I love writing poety (but haven't done so in a while now due to remodeling) We seem to also have similar tastes in music.  And as for Lord of the Rings trilogy! Well, we LOVE IT! We have the novels, as well as the videos. We aren't hooked up to cable or antenna but we have a nice video collection & a massive, alhumdulillah book collection. BOOKS are our thing! Salaam
