Endings

A'salaamu 'aleikom Gentle Reader.

I suppose that some things must eventually come to an ending.

The Agency I have been working for has run out of funding so, as a result, they have had to close their doors. I will miss my students, especially those who, as a result of Aquired Brain Injury, are still unable to read or communicate properly. On the bright side I have neen able to place them with another agency so the work can continue.

For myself, I will be working for the local College, as a volunteer, with a new group, all of them New Australians and Refugees, mostly Muslim, teaching conversational English and Basic Computer usage.

Most of these students have not only not seen a computer before, but didn't even have electricity in the villiages they have come from.

Another change is that as a result of this new commitment, I will have to cut back on taking in homeless kids for a while. Besides, I do not have the backing of a partner in my life, and as these kids are female, well I dont feel comfortable having non related teenage girls in a house when there is no mother figure to chaperone. Their reputation is of the utmost importance, and I would not place that in harms way due to gossip.

I have been a bit down of late due to my upcoming Divorce. Despite everything, one cannot but feel a little remorse to see a marriage finally come to it's ultimate end. She has been less than kind to us due to her story telling. Although those who know me are aware of what is the truth, words still hurt. But in the end, although it is just another change, the loneliness does get me down, especially when I can see no light at the end of the tunnel.

It is ok for those who keep saying to me, "You do have your Kids". What they do not understand is that , although I am grateful for that small mercy, it can never be the same as sharing ones life with a true partner. To love and to be loved is but the most basic of human needs, but unfortunately to many people place too high a criteria on who they conder to be suitable. I suppose that is why there are so many single people, and not just Muslim, in the Western world.

Until next time I wish you well, and pray that your life is filled with the Blessings of Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala), Ameen.

W'salaam my friend.
