Salaam alaikum, I am writing this post to try once again to recommend to those fellow Muslim Americans who are struggling with the massive dunya of crime, sexual vulgarity surrounding them, gang violence, housing shortages & low-paying jobs in high cost areas to consider an option.
There are placed STILL in the USA that do not have these characteristics. One of these is South Dakota. Yes, South Dakota. Most immediately shut off at this point but I want to press that you consider waiting & listening to what I am saying.
South Dakota may be a rural state & even someplace that gets cold in the winter; but why are dunya comforts like that keeping you from moving your family to someplace they can live free from gang violence, drugs everywhere & billboards promoting the haraam?
South Dakota has Muslims living in many of its small towns, as well as its larger communities. They aren't linched. They aren't mistreated. In fact often they are protected by their neighbors in ways urban areas aren't willing to do. How many of you know your neighbors? How many talk to them & know their children by name?
Right now our area is booming economically, with one company expanding by 40%. They are seeking new employees & they have said in previous inquiries, that if they got an increasing number of Muslims as employees who needed a place to pray; they'd utilize one of their meeting rooms as a prayer area for them. This company is Dakotronics, in Brookings, SD.
Additionally Sioux Falls is continuing to grow.
Those with children could actually AFFORD to send your children to college, without going heavily into debt! College for residents in this state is quite low compared to other states. (google South Dakota State University or University of South Dakota).
Halal meat is readily available in the region. Also women in hijab & even niqab are not harassed. Following 9-11 our governor took over all the tv & radio stations & broadcasted warning to all residents that NO muslim was to be harmed & that the state would prosecute to the fullest anyone who harassed or harmed a Muslim in the state. How may governors did that immediately?
We have three houses of worship (two in Sioux Falls) and one in Brookings so there are places for worship. The one in Brookings is new & has few people utilizing it due to the small number currently living in the area.
If you are seeking employment or seek housing, this area is a great place to find both. Sioux Falls was recently identified as the Best place to start a business.
Those seeking to homeschool their children will find that this state makes home schooling quite easy. You don't have to have a teaching certification to home-school, nor is the process for approval complicated.
There is little government bureacracy in this state. In fact it is frowned upon by the residents & the government alike!
Public schools are much safer than in most regions of the country & school violence is almost non-existant.
So, we encourage you to consider relocating to our area if you seek to build a better life for your family.
