salaam alaikum, I always just recruited my kids into hobbies.
 We got involved in historical re-enactments when they were young, cause it meant we could do something healthy & together, and at the same time I could enjoy studying history, Islam, & camping (dependant on the era). LOL But I do understand the issue of kids taking our time away from ourselves.  Salaam alaikum
