S.I.S.T.E.R. S Announces TWO $1000.00 Scholarships for Sisters



Sisters in Solidarity to Educate, Respond & Serve (S.I.S.T.E.R. S ) is pleased to announce their second annual scholarship for sisters.    In an effort to highlight the academic and civic achievements of young Muslim women in the DC Metropolitan Area, S.I.S.T.E.R. S initiated this scholarship program in 2007.  S.I.S.T.E.R. S aims to recognize and assist deserving students to achieve their higher education goals.  This year, TWO $1000.00  scholarships will be awarded to the most deserving applicants.  In order to be considered for this award, all applicants are required to meet the following eligibility guidelines.  You must:


v     Be a Muslim female between the ages of 17-22 years old.


v     Currently be enrolled in or accepted to a 2 or 4 year college program.


v     Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or better.


v     Demonstrate an active participation in community service work.


v     Complete a short essay component.


v     Submit grade transcript.


v     Submit a letter of recommendation.


The deadline for the scholarship application is April 5, 2008.  The winners will be notified by April 18th.  Guidelines and Application can be downloaded from our webpage www.sistersinsolidarity.com
