Salaam, Actually sister we have had many Muslims over the years when the issue of land of Native Americans come up.... they have said that they no longer have rights to it. Mind you that is because the Muslim saying it OWNS the land or the house & doesn't want to give up what they have acquired. Since they have bought their land, they care little on how the land was initially acquired or who was removed from the land to make it available for "settlement". Its the same as the issue with Jews immigrating to Palestine & not caring about who was removed and whose homes destroyed to make way for the Illegal Jewish settlements of condos and compounds. Allah they care about is what they want. Not the suffering of those displaced. As for the issue of people not giving because she is Native American. Not directly, but we've already had one sister justify not acting claiming that American tribes have "casinos" and going on about other "services". Yet she actually knew nothing about the case or the tribe in question. In fact the casino justifcation doesn't help a Muslimah at all and we as Muslims shouldn't excpt this Muslimah to depend on a casino's earnings, even if there was one for her to get funds from. What is so bad about the stereotyping is it is being used to justify not helping. So far NO money has been collected. NONE. So the reason doesn't matter. The fact that no one has sent zakat or sadaqa funds does. Even $5 from numerous people could help greatly. Baraka Obama's campaign illustrates what a large number of small donations can do! Salaam
