O my Lord,
if I worship you
from fear of hell, burn me in hell.
If I worship you
from hope of Paradise, bar me from its gates.
But if I worship you
for yourself alone, grant me then the beauty of your Face.
Assalaam alaikum hermanos y mis hermanas!
On this site, I'm known as AYAH. Awais_ak is my big brother, and Snowgoil was my mother, رحمهاالله.
I live in Alaska, and before people start asking lame questions about if I see polar bears in my yard or if it snows all year round or if we ever see the sun, go educate yourself before wasting my time and yours (:
I hear it's beautiful here, but I've been here too long to appreciate its beauty the way I probably should...
Ethnically, on my dear sweet mother's side I am several tribes of Native American but mostly Inupiaq, and a fusion of numerous but none the less euqually invariable caucasian nationalities.
Oh, and my dad is black.
My dear sweet mother passed away on November 11, 2007 from a 7 month long battle against cancer, and I'll never ever be the same ever again. Who ever said winning isn't everything, never had to fight cancer. She was my hero and my best friend, as well as my mother, and I miss her more and more each day.
Since her passing I now bunk with my awesome "brodre" Awais_ak. Who has become one of my very best friends, though I don't tell him as often as I should that he is.
Hmm. I converted in May 2003, roughly 5 months after my mother converted. I don't think my conversion story is all that amazing, besides the fact that I was only 12.
I read,
related,
decided,
testified.
I think that's the story of all converts? Nothing too special, I don't think.
I find it incredibly funny and a little sad at the same time when niqaabi's post photos of themselves (ESPECIALLY when they do their EYE MAKEUP!) over the internet. Completely voids the entire post of wearing a niqaab, to conceal one's self. But whatever.
And yes, that adorable munchkin in my display photo is me, I'm about 1 and a half and yes, I'm doing the 2-step.
My headline photo is also both me. And no I'm not crazy like she said! Don't take that photo. I know it's cute, but it's not you, it's not yours, it's me and mine. I hate it when people steal random pictures of other people off the internet and use them as their display photos, it's a bit creepy...
And speaking of photgraphy, it is my happy medium. Ideally I would like to become a filmmaker, but I'd settle for becoming a photo journalist one day. (Infact Awais_ak's display photo I took, he owes me royalties!). And please, no rants and lectures about photography being haram. It's light captured on sensitive film. I'm not creating or imitating anything, I'm capturing something that already is.
I also like reading about other religions, philosphy, psychology, and other controversial stuff like that people think a wee girl like me shouldn't have my nose in!
My most recent facination is with the Tao Philosophy. And before you get mixed up, there is the Tao Philosphy, and then there's the Tao religion. Two different things. Like most deviations, the religion came like 400 years after the original philosphy.
What else...well, I think I'm a pretty smart cookie for my age. Since there's very little to do in a snow globe, I read a lot. I think I've learned more of what I know out of my own curiousity and drive than someone actually teaching me something, which I am particularly proud of. BUT that being said, I can be a bit of a smartass from time to time when people start to annoy me, I'm working on curbing that though :)

Chilling with family and/or friends,
I love to laugh, it's really a great medicine.
I love sunshine too :) That's one thing I like about Alaska, its Midnight Sun.
Oh, and this talented lady
